Poverty Law

The Poverty Law Advocate at TDCSS provides one-on-one advice, of varying degrees (referral, summary advice, or full representation) to low-income clients on a variety of legal topics.

These topics include:

  • Income assistance
  • Indian Day School Settlement Applications
  • Secure status card information
  • Eviction notices
  • Tenancy issues
  • Federal supplements

The advocate also partakes in outreach to other local organizations and events.

Family Law

The purpose of TDCSS’s Family Law Advocacy program is to serve members of the Terrace community who are facing family law related legal challenges, such as those regarding divorce, separation, and protection orders.

These services include:

  • Legal information
  • Referrals to appropriate services
  • Summary Advice
  • Client Advocacy

An advocate’s role is to help clients navigate the legal system and find realistic and fair solutions that prioritizes their needs.
