Home sharing describes a situation in which an adult with a developmental disability shares a home with someone who provides ongoing support. Support may include a furnished room and other space in the home, assistance with self-care and relationship building, lifeskills, meal preparation, personal care, and use of community resources and generic services. Beyond this very technical definition, it must be acknowledged that home sharing is not a job. It’s a chosen lifestyle! Sharing your home with a person with Diverse Abilities is a unique and rewarding experience.
