In 1987, I accepted a job offer to work in Terrace and upon arrival felt the community was “home.” My two daughters were raised in Terrace and now live in Vancouver and Vanderhoof respectively.
I completed my Bachelor of Education (Special Education), in 1986 and a Masters in Education (Counselling) in 2009. My personal philosophy includes life-long learning for myself, my daughters, and the students I worked with. I value integration and inclusion for all members of society.
I worked in the school system as a classroom teacher, a Learning Assistance teacher, a counsellor and an administrator. My work has given me the opportunity to appreciate the diversity in the school population. This learning has helped me understand the importance of the work done in the various programs of Terrace and District Community Services.
In addition to being on the board for TDCSS, I am a member of the Rotary Club of Terrace. My recreational activities include kayaking, hiking, quading, cross country skiing, knitting and reading.
I look forward to learning more about the variety of services offered by TDCSS. With my background in both education and mental health, I believe I will be able to provide thoughtful and relevant insight into the governance of TDCSS.
